The Division of Hematology and Oncology is very unique as it is composed of two distinct medical subspecialties: Hematology and Medical Oncology. Over the last decade, this Division has demonstrated significant growth in both subspecialties, providing excellence in education, research and patient care.
Dr. Bernadette Garvey has written an extensive history on the Labs at St. Michael’s Hospital. With a great deal of overlap with the Department of Medicine, this makes an excellent read while providing historical perspective of how we got where we are today. The article was first published in the Canadian Journal of Pathology earlier this year.
Dr. Jim Paupst has written a tribute to Dr. Joe Marotta who was Physician-in-Chief at St. Michael’s Hospital from 1969-1979. Dr. Marotta passed away on December 20, 2016 in London, Ontario.
