All Department of Medicine members are reminded that the deadline to submit your 2023 continuing professional development (CPD) hours for Maintenance of Certification (MOC) without mandatory documentation is January 31, 2024. You can submit your hours online at MAINPORT on the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada website.
Please note that 2023 certificates of attendance for St. Michael's Hospital Medical Grand Rounds were emailed by Jessica Comilang in late December.

This year, we celebrate the 10th Anniversary of Angels Den, so we are increasing our main prizes to $250,000 each and will be giving out a total of $700,000 in research funding. In addition to fostering brand new research projects in medical discovery and health system innovation, we will be showcasing 10 years of the impact that donors and sponsors have had through their support of our researchers.
The Office of the Vice President, Research & Innovation and St. Michael’s Foundation prioritize scientific excellence, translation, commercialization and impact. We invite your submission for the 2024 competition.

Dear Colleagues,
I am pleased to report that we will continue our annual competition for the Postgraduate Research Awards and will be accepting submissions for the 2024-2025 academic year.
The purpose of the 2024 Postgraduate Research Awards is to provide financial assistance to students engaged in medical research.
Guidelines for the Awards are:
- Most awards are for Postgraduate Trainees (MDs) registered with the PGME office. Awards will range from $500 to $12,500
- A small number of awards are for graduate students who are conducting medical research and are registered with the University of Toronto, School of Graduate Studies. Awards will range from $50 to $1,300
- All applicants are rated and the top ranked applicants are assigned the awards according to the terms and conditions of each award
- The research funding awarded from this competition is for future research to be completed during the 2024-2025 academic year. Funds (prize money) will be paid in 12 equal monthly installments, with the first payment commencing by December 2024
- Applicants are not required to apply for a particular award. Applicants complete and submit a general application using the Judgify platform at the following site: https://www.judgify.me/uoftpgmeresearchawards2024
- Applicants must be supported by their Supervisor and Chair where they will be conducting their research
- You must be registered for the full academic year (July 1, 2024 – June 30, 2025) to be eligible for funding
- Please ensure the reference letters are uploaded to the portal as part of your application. Referees are not required to send their letters to PGME separately
- The deadline for submission of application packages to the Judgify platform is end of day on Friday, April 5, 2024
The following must be uploaded to Judgify as part of the application:
- A one-page research proposal
- Three academic reference letters (including one from the proposed research supervisor)
- Completed signature page for Department Chair, Proposed Research Supervisor and Applicant
Details concerning education, research, publications, etc. will be collected via the application form.
